The Mineral District Medical Society ( MDMS) is an affiliate chapter of the National Medical Association that provided a collective voice for physicians of African American descent.
To promote the common interests and ideals of physicians and patients of African American descent. MDMS serves as the collective voice of Birmingham area physicians of African American descent and leading force for equality in medicine, elimination of health disparities, and promotion of optimal health.
The Mineral District Medical Society (MDMS), is the Birmingham area affiliate chapter of the National Medical Association. Meetings are generally held on the fourth Tuesday of the month, except for the June - August and December.
Established as an endowed scholarship between MDMS and the UAB School of Medicine in 1988.
